Stadium LED Lighting

This past Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers played the Arizona Cardinals in the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Although you probably wont see it mentioned on any of the sports networks or blogs, it was the first NFL game played under LED lights. Did they new lights contribute to the Cardinal’s emotional win over the 49ers? – Probably not, however, whoever pays the electricity bill for the stadium, had lots good reasons to celebrate! The new LED lights require 75% less electricity, than the traditional stadium lighting, and because they generate 50% less heat, it reduces the energy required to cool the stadium! Another huge benefit, is that they do not require the 20-30 minute warm up time. When the switch is flipped for these LED lights, they turn on or off instantly. It took just over 300 of the new stadium LED lighting fixtures, to produce the same amount of light as the previous 780+ traditional metal halide lights. Folks watching at home on HD televisions also have reason to celebrate, the LED lighting produces a better TV picture with fewer shadows.

With this impressive list of features and benefits, it wont be long until other NFL stadiums score their own led lighting.
